Baratza sette 270w customer service praise
« on: September 02, 2018, 09:38:06 AM »
The sette 270w they sent me to review had a problem where it stopped working. I cleaned it out and removed the burrs, no issues to be found. I called Baratza and they took it off my hands to be repaired while I was on vacation in Switzerland. What happens next is stuff of legend, i think they want me to review the standard sette 270 because they sent me one. Then my sette 270w came back as a sette 270wi they had to replace the gearbox, it had slipped a gear. So now I have some new grinders to review and the 270wi is much quieter than the 270w, I'm not sure what they did.

Hmm. New gearbox plus quieter operation suggests perhaps they changed from straight cut gears to helical ones.

I say we do a traveling Road Show with the 270wi after your review.  You can send it to me first and then I'll send it to the next person, in 5 years or whenever I'm done with it.   :)

I’ve been using a 270 for a year now for espresso only, can’t say enough about how pleased I am with it. Great grinder! I was hesitant of the W version because of reports of issues with it. I’m interested in your review of the wi version. Grinding by weight would be nice if they have all of the bugs worked out.

I liked the 270w very much until it skipped a tooth. But it worked fine and well enough. The wi version is better in a lot of ways and I have no idea what they did differently. But I hope it lasts longer before an issue. I like the 270 standard issue just fine but the wi version is an upgrade.

Yeah I heard that was what killed the travelling road shows. Someone made out with some nice cigars

Baratza just replaced a failed motor for me in a Virtuoso that was about two years old at no cost. Kudos to them for standing by their products!

Totally agree. On price, service and reliability, Baratza is a category killer.
