Anyone else have this problem? Is there an easy fix? Are their better poppers now?

sounds like maybe a defect from the factory?  Try exchanging it for a new one and see if its still a problem.

I got this one 6 months ago because old one was overheating. Suddenly before unpacking , the old one started working perfectly again so I never used new one. The  exact thing just happened again. Unpacked the new one which worked for 4 times and then overheated. Fortunately I hadn't chucked the old one yet. Got it out and it just worked again.
I think this might have to do with living in boiling Burbank, CA. 90 outside now..
Thanks A.
