Grinder question
« on: September 25, 2018, 07:54:25 AM »
So, I have a unique thing going on and am looking for a grinder to use, and I was hoping some of you would have ideas for a grinder..

I'm a middle school teacher, and the special education teacher down the hall has a very low group of emotionally impaired kids.  She has bought a couple of keurigs and she was hoping to teach her students some life skills by selling coffee to people in school.  Once I heard this, I volunteered to provide her better coffee to use for her program, charging her my cost of the beans.

I currently have a Breville Smart Grinder.  While this has worked fine for me, it struggles with larger quantities.  I'd like to get a grinder for school so she may use it in her classroom.  I think we're going to be doing at most a couple of pounds a week, and only grind for a drip type (keurig for now) machine.

I don't really want to go full bore commercial (i.e.expensive), so was wondering what options there are for this scenario?

Thanks!!!

Mike

Any ideas on your budget, i.e. what's the max you'd spend?

There's no limit.  It's something I'm going to do to help out kids so I'd rather not grab a 3K Mahlkonig, but the price is pretty open.  Maybe up to a grand if needed.....

I picked up a used espresso grinder when a local coffee shop went under, years back.  It's a workhorse, and only gets used for grinding for drip, for the rare customer I agree to grind for.  I'd suggest looking at craigslist in your area - the grinder doesn't need to be in good enough condition for espresso, just functioning.

I think in this case, simple is good. How about something like this?

var elvisLives = Math.PI > 4 ? "Yep" : "Nope";

I have the Dual Hopper version of this grinder, bought it used for like $150. Such a good grinder.
