I have to say the name of this product is somewhat funny to me. I am starting to think that questions like MP's were somewhat what the maker was going for... :P

Hahaha!  I was going to find a video for mp, but it scares me to think what might come up.

I will be making a detailed video review soon.

What I can say right now is that it is an impressive machine with an equally impressive build quality.

Here is where the name comes from.

I see. So you don't need to filter the various coffee grind fines to get the most ideal grind beforehand?

Like a sifter?

It's more complicated than that.

For starters you have 2 (maybe 3) different ways to brew with this device and you can manipulate dwell times and/or drip rates independent of grind completely.

So there are loads of variations at your disposal.

I like the sifter better.

I haven't seen or used the sifter so I can't compare them.

John, that was a bit of snark there with the sifter I believe.
It's like a super combo swiss gold / pour over / french press.

Change the drip rates is a good thing, sometimes you want a bit more extraction or a longer soak.  With a conventional you'd have to go oops, too fast, have to grind a bit finer next cup.  This one apparently you can crank it up and down to get where you need with less 'grounds' trial and error and just adjust the process on the fly really.  Im wondering tho, typically in pour over, one cupper setups, the drip problem is they clog or airlock and don't drip fast enough.  Does this have big 'nuff holes so you can get around that without the sharp slap on the counter with it?

Oh and if you decide to pass it around for folks to try and post about, I'd love to get on that list.

It has a series of openings that you can adjust from zero flow to fast flow by rotating it at any point during the brew.

So you can continously change from off to on fast/slow as often as you like and add water at any time so it is very adjustable regardless of the grind. So....after all of those adjustments you can also adjust the grid so it is the most adjustable set up I've ever seen.

Maybe I'll make a quick "how it works" vid before the review vid.

Thanks John.

You gave a very good overall explanation of how this sucker works, maybe too good. I can see myself using this. How much are they asking for this baby?

Thanks again.

Currently they are $96.

The only thing I can see breaking in 100 years is the filter and I think those are $7.

So I guess what you are saying is that they are built to last and the replacement parts are reasonably priced?

I'll get more into the build quality later but basically you are going to have to go out of your way to damage it.

That sounds good.

The only downside I can see is the initial purchase price ... would be great if they cost around 1/2 as much.

Do you know when retail establishments will carry them?

Thanks.

I don't know that.  They only just hit the US a couple weeks ago I think so we were lucky to be some of the first to see it.

I really like its perceived quality, simple but appealing look, and well thought out design.

If its been mentioned and I missed it sorry - curious to know what the material is for the clear outer part? I hear you saying it is built to last but I have unique skill in breaking things.

I have that information at home....I will update tonight.

But you won't break this.   ;D

If it's that durable then it's probably Lexan.

I like it but at close to 100 dollars, hmm that's a tough sell.

I wonder how scratch resistant it is.

According to the material spec sheet, it has a Rockwell hardness (M scale) of 77.  Pretty soft, as one might expect.

The only thing the clear part actually does is hold the filter and the basket.

Unless you force it to (and I have been) no coffee or water even touch it.

So it probably doesn't need to be super extra heavy duty. What I like most about it is how snug it fits into the base without any gaskets.

Ok lets make a traveling road show on it and then one of us gets the privilege of testing its ability to survive a "normal" drop.
