Title: Bonavita Electric 1.05qt Variable temp. gooseneck kettle review
Post by: Joe on November 04, 2016, 12:31:05 PM
Here is the Video Review:

my pros and cons:

pros:

1. small foot print
2. Accurate temperature control
3. Kettle function works very well.
4. Insulation allows to place the kettle on surfaces without burning them.
5. Bonavita customer support
6. comes with a splash shield for the display.
7. auto temp control means no whistle needed, no temp probe, etc..

Cons:

1. the digital controls aren't intuitive. They could have been better.
2. the electrical heating element gives the kettle a less than optimal balance. The handle helps mitigate this but it still is less controllable as say the stovetop gooseneck from Bonavita. It works, but it is a bit of a transition from a stove top
3. The base doesn't turn off unless the kettle is resting on its socket. It's not quite a "con" but it could have been slightly better.

I will go over these points in my video review.

Joe, the base does turn itself off after about 10 minutes.
I have been using this kettle for several years and I'm totally sold on it.

Well done Joe! It sounds like it is a very capable brewer. They sound like they are very responsive to client input.

Look forward to your video.

I actually witnessed this for myself last night. But I would prefer to be able to push the power button off while the kettle wasn't on it's base. It's nit-picky, I know but I feel like people should know this mainly so they think they aren't doing something wrong when they can't shut it off.

Technivorm Brewer review is almost completed. It will be released prior to the Bonavita Kettle review :(

I have an old bodum electric vac pot that I use for heating my water.  It does a very good job at it and has been going strong for many years for me.  I also do an occasional vac pot of coffee with it too :)

Hey Joe,

I've seen that you have done a Bonavita review. Is this a review of a different model of Bonavita than you mention here?

Thanks.
