Behmor tips and tricks
« on: August 21, 2012, 04:54:08 PM »
Since there isn't one already, maybe we can sticky this.

I have 2 points to add.

1. once the green beans have been added to the drum, rotate the drum a half dozen time for small beans or broken beans to fall thru before  putting it in for roasting.

2. I clean the chaff after every roast. When doing so, after I brush out the chaff from the back, I open the door about 1 1/2 in  or so and let it slam shut a cpl times,  doing this either the wind or vibration, makes the chaff stuck in the back drop down so it can be cleaned out. This I think would aid in elimination of a possible chaff fire due to buildup.

Much as I hate my vacuum cleaner, it does come in handy for sucking all of the chaff out of the Behmor after the roast.  I brush first....then vacuum....seems to work (sez the lady with only 4 roasts under her belt)....

I found the original Behmor Q&A, tips and tricks thread and I made it a sticky topic.
