Ninja Shopping - Uber pouring kettle via Google Translate
« on: November 27, 2013, 09:17:46 AM »
On 11/07 I decided to try a little shopping experiment.

Please note the term, "global market"
http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/fcollection2007/item/983004/

With a little help from my barely Japanese literate translator:
https://translate.google.com/?hl=en&tab=wT

I needed the translator several times during the ordering process, and to review (and even respond to) emails.

Today, the doorbell rang.  I think I ended up at about $85 US.
Bam.

If you like smaller kettles, Prima has the http://prima-coffee.com/takahiro/kettle .5 liters at $120, the .9 liters at $130.  No Google Translate required.

Prima usually has some pretty good Black Friday stuff, too.

On the shipping, congrats :)  Don't you just love the packaging and shipping labels, with all those funky characters?  So.. foreign.  Bought me a booger-green glass v60 set, a kono 2 cup syphon, and a kono grinder with ninja teeth burrs over the last year from Japan.  Since our enflavor guy is MIA, I'm researching where to buy the electric diago syphon to recontinue the roadshow.

Regarding the tak: how on earth do you peoples get a steady, thin stream from it?  After months and months, I can't do anything but a dribble or a deluge.  I gave up a couple months ago and went back to the hario at home.  I find the bonavita easiest to control from the kettles I've tried.

Well done.  That 1.5 is the bees' knees.

When I shopped with them, I ordered a kettle and before I knew it, they were shipping me a knock-off (complete with picture) and a cost that made it unattractive.  I never thought I would get it unraveled, but I did.

Nice score.  Prima wants $225 or so to order that 1.5L Tackyfoster (aka Johnnies-ahiro).
