Does anybody know anything about this company/roaster? It seems like a great deal for a small start up coffee shop; probably too good, though. I cannot find much in the way of reviews about it. Thoughts?

Looks like a lot of thought went into it, and should be a promising roaster.
Two things caught my eye tho'... 8x17 drum doesn't sound ideal for 9lbs.... and, it would nice to have a trier. The glass front wouldn't stay transparent w/o frequent cleanings.

For 6 grand you can get a used ambex or even a diedrich.
-
I didn't even see the price for it before - $6K ?!? I would have guessed it to be 999.99 or less, but only if you call in the next 15 minutes - Operators are standing by!

I just looked above the Visa/MC/Amex logos to find the price.

More quartz-halogen degradation by UV. Baaaaaddd... :P
Why would anyone (except a cheap manufacturer) want to use anything but gas at this scale??

Tell me where? That's what I'm looking for.

I'd start here:

I've seen some pretty good deals come and go lately.

This is where I started. It's where I came across this roaster (well, the 7 lb. version for $3K). I just haven't seen a diedrich for $6K come through.

Where do you live? Have you tried looking on craigslist? It may be a P.I.T.A., but calling around to the commercial coffee roasters in your area to see if anyone has something you want for sale might be beneficial too. The classified ads in Roast Magazine sometimes has some good deals, but you have to watch them like a hawk: http://www.roastmagazine.com/currentissue/classifieds.html (http://www.roastmagazine.com/currentissue/classifieds.html)

I live in Dallas. There's not a huge coffee roasting presence here in general. I haven't tried Craigslist (consistently anyway), so I'll keep an eye on that and the Roast Magazine as well. Thanks for the tips.
