Well ... opened up the roaster ... no manual.

Hmm ... maybe it was opened at one point just to take the manual out.

If anyone has an online link to a Swissmar Alpenrost manual please do let me know.  I am currently searching and seem to find places with tips but not a manual.

 :)

MP

I'll dig around tonight.  I may still have the manual for mine.

Here are some tips from SM

You can always contact swissmar too:

 CANADA
Swissmar LTD.
35 East Beaver Creek Rd., Unit 6
Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4B 1B3
Phone: 905-764-1121
Toll Free: 1-877-947-7627
Fax: 905-764-1123
Email: info@swissmar.com

Thanks Larry ... I appreciate it.

There is no mention of the Alpenrost on their web site at all.

I suppose it would not hurt to phone and ask them if they have an extra manual floating around.

Yes ... I read some of the stuff at Sweet Maria's ... they caution to read the manual as they are only offering tips and not instructions from the manual.

 :)

Often they can send you a PDF version via email.  It wasn't a big manual if I remember correctly.  There should also be a label near the buttons that somewhat explains the different profiles.  The + button adds time to the profile during the roast....hmmmm it's been a while since I used mine with the original controlls. (4 years or so)....

Post a closeup photo of the controls panel and I'm sure it will come back to me.

Ok ... will do.

I've sent off an email to them ... we'll see if they even answer it.

Stay tuned.

My English comprehension is getting bad ... I don't think I even picked up a word from all that.

Ok I remember quick instructions:

- weigh your beens 1/2lb max
- put beans in drum
- put drum in roaster
- plug in
- press the up button until 15 appears
- Press Start
- listen for 1st crack
- plan on when to stop
- listen for 2nd if you plan to go there
- press cool when it's to the roast level you want.

Yes you can peak at the beans if you want to see the roast level but don't leave the top open for too long.

Clean out the chaff and take a warm damp rag and wipe down the inside after each roast.  the damper will stick open or closed if it get's too dirty.

I used a aluminum dryer hose and taped it to the exhaust port and put it out a window.  you can roast inside that way.

Thanks Larry ... I'm now building up confidence for my first roast.

Its on its way.

Contrary to its billing ... it was used at least once ... there was chaff on the inside and some dark patches on the drum.

I send a couple of emails to the seller ... one asking for a manual and another telling him it was used.

Here is how I vented mine.....

and you can see if you look closely the thermocouple sticking out of the left end.

BTW: they suggest 30 minute cool down before another roast.... I didn't follow that suggestion.... note the melted lid and sides :violent4: :violent5:

Where do you have your roaster?  Where you roast I mean?

Second crack did not take too long to come after that.

How neat ... it dumps the beans into the collector plate automatically.

The bean bag that the Alpenrost beans came in suggested a 10 ... so that is what I did.  You can see that some beans are a little darker than others but over all I've got to admit that the roast looks and smells quite good (Europa blend).

I roasted in the basement and the is a cloud of smoke that covers the whole basement now.   :o

I think it is time to give it a good cleaning.

Thank you for the help Larry.
