For the price of the OD dispenser, you could buy B|Mazzer's Mini.

Nah, history can not be rewritten.  The Mini is humming along, singing the eBay theme song, on its countdown to Sunday evening.

I probably could use a tin can and a funnel?

Milo and I both modded our Rossi RR45's into doserless models.  I'll show you next time you're over.

something like this?

I did run across a thread that might be of interest to you (Still have the KitchenAid?)

I've modified a couple of Prolines and there is a bit more to it. I didn't notice in the thread any mention of drilling and tapping due to the screw hole placement. The area where the stationary burr sits needs to be ground down to allow the burr to sit flat and center hole of the burr is filled with the material of your choice. A problem on at least a few of these grinders is a warped auger or warped moving burr backing plate (aluminum). Easy enough to remedy on a lathe. Even with stock burrs, the two I worked on would not allow the burrs to zero as the rear of the auger bottomed out first. That was also taken care of on the lathe.

Comparing to the Zip, Macap and the Bunn LPG commercial drip grinder sitting around the house, the Kitchenaid comes fairly close after the mods. However, unless you already have one sitting sitting around and like to play, I'm not sure it's worth it. We like it because of the build, looks, size and zero static cling.

And also, I like to mod things.

I want to replace the hopper on this with something smaller. I have been looking at lamp shades and hurricane glass. The opening is 2 inches across. Here are some possibles I have found:

http://lampglass.nu/lampglass/product/484---amber-brandy-2-fitter.html

http://lampglass.nu/lampglass/product/id-4741-clear-straight-hurricane.html

http://lampglass.nu/lampglass/product/641---2-x-8-threaded-pole-lamp-shade.html

http://lampglass.nu/lampglass/product/816-2-x-6-frosted-cylinder.html

http://lampglass.nu/lampglass/product/id-897-clear-ceiling-glass.html

it looks like Since a 2.25 inch fit will be too big. I may just be stuck using a 1.625 inch. It appears that is the next standard siza down.

You'll want to add something onto the neck of the glass, maybe a rubber o-ring.

Take the lamp shade that you will be wearing by 12.30am tomorrow evening, put it on Roscoe the Grinder, take the burrs out, run a cord to it, put in a bulb and get a new grinder.  Lamp chimneys, my heavens.

This from a guy who just PID'd his Silvia, added fancy handles and moved on from a Macap to a Nuova Simonelli. All the while claiming a lack of upgradeitis

Incorrect.  I am sticking with the Macap.  I will sell you the hopper of the Nuova Simonelli for $525.  It fits the Roscoe you have.  I will throw in the grinder with new burrs as a free additional to close the deal.

Beat up?  I am not the one looking for a kerosene chimney to 'purty' up Roscoe.

I got the impression the Macap's welcome was getting thin with all the ooh'ing and aaah'ing over the Nuova.

Anything I am doing is purely functional.

I will replace my grinder when I need something nicer looking:

As opposed to making a silk purse out of Silvia.

I won't even bring up that full automatic I once saw with a Monroe address...

learning curve.

Some of us have to make our own mistakes.

I get the idea that Mrs Py might allow the Vario on her counter. Have to think that over...
