I drink 3.75 oz milk drinks. They last about 90 seconds.

... it starts out cold and goes through the range of temp all the way up to, but not quite boiling. It's as transparent as it gets with French press being very close if not nearly the same. I have a hard time getting the French Press right for some reason.

Therein lies the difficulty of the prep for me.  It is extracting, all the way up, from 40-50-60-70...205.*  I am not sure I want a prep with extractions occurring below 190.*

Remember, at the end it's steeping at just off boil for five minutes--same as a French press. This just gives it a couple minutes through all the temps and probably isn't extracting much at the lowest temp. Look how long it takes to brew cold coffee. I could probably just pour water just off boil in just like a French press and let it steep, which I should probably try, and also see if I'm open minded enough to try the boiling thing. Like John, I'm not sure if I can get myself to do it.

I can tell you it's the best way I know how to brew coffee that has the best range of taste, or brings the most out of the bean. Do a blind test with something else and I couldn't tell the difference or what's what of course. We know how that goes.

Small milk to big milk is night as to day.

Mega milk won't work for me.

The smaller the better, as in Caffè Macchiatto;

When I do frou-frou for guests I reserve just a spoonful for my double.

Lucky for you I'm not a traveller..... ::)

You know, it has occurred to me that maybe everyone doesn't simply love milk as much as I do, and also maybe people don't have access to milk that is as good as what I get.  Milk for me is a treat, and my body responds well to all dairy products;  that is not the case for everyone, I realize.

And, as MP points out.....it's all good.
 I wouldn't begin to try to talk anyone else into liking it the way I like it, although it is probably how they would have it served to them were they to visit me.....at least the first time around.

You are correct of course.

All that has ever mattered in all of this is that people are happy with what is in the cup.

The rest just keeps us busy geeking on to infinity.

I like the taste of my espresso based drink - an "Americano," which uses a mix of 1.5 oz of espresso to 2.5 oz of water as my standard brew. I have tried press pot, moka/bialetti pot, aeropress, vac pot with Cory rod and cheesecloth filters, pour overs with paper filters, the Kone and Swiss Gold, the Espro press, Vietnamese drip, OCS brewer, bank-giveaways drip. And I've tried these different brew methods with the "appropriate" coffees and roast levels/grind levels for each one. I still like my "Americanos" most, with beans roasted to FC or FC+, and ground with my Compak K10.

Aeropress brew comes next. Then pour over with a Kone.
