Aeropress is usually my first cup in the morning during the week. It is also what I take on trips: a Jet Boil to boil water, the Aeropress, a Porlex grinder, travel scale, camping cup and I'm all set. I have brewed dozens of cups along side the road on some mountain pass while on a motorcycle trip. The nice thing about using it is my Jet Boil can't pour precise enough for some pouovers, but it doesn't matter with the Aeropress. I have an Able filter, but I still mostly use paper. I usually brew inverted, but also brew right side up. I've got literally dozens of just about every brew system out there and I use the Aeropress more than any of them. I like the cup and the process is simple.

Okay, so I've been reading some of the online instructions for using the AP and I can't figure out how it could brew differently enough from an Espro to warrant adding it to the coffee toys.

Anyone care to enlighten me??

I'm thinking I might be the last coffee person on the planet not to have dabbled in the Aero Press and that maybe it's time????

...

2nd last and I have no intention of wading into that plastic mystery sea.

Guess I'll go back to civilizing the Espro....

You'd really, really like the AP.

And you should do the opposite of what B|Java says.

I'm serious, you'd like the AP a lot.

I saw enough when Rasqual did a reverse double loop, unside down press, giving Peter's kitchen a fresh coffee of cafe brown.

Plastic + very high putz factor ≠ good idea.

It's hard to make a comparison because it has its own unique flavor profile. There's really nothing that brews like an AP. Peter is right. You'll like it.

I never dilute, just brew the full cup.

Whats your go to recipe? I like to experiment.

What other brewing implement has it's own world championship event? That should tell you something right there. 8)

2nd last and I have no intention of wading into that plastic mystery sea.
I am with Dave on this although I did dabble with the AP a few years ago. Something just creeps me out about plastics at high temps.  Other than the plastics issue, I found the AP did nothing in the cup that half a dozen other brew methods in my house already did, including my Espro. In the end, my AP was gifted to an airline pilot buddy of mine that wanted it for travel.

I'm in this camp as well.  I bought two: One for the boyfriend and one for myself.  He now owns both.

Having just slurped a lovely latte of Papa Lin's Kemgin pulled on my new Cremina, I think I am going to leave the plastics to those of you who make good use of them travelling etc.

My interest in the AP has officially ended.
