Espresso and Cappuccino cup info request
« on: September 12, 2008, 04:52:54 PM »
My wife and I are talking about doing a series of smaller cups for espresso, cappuccino, tea...

I am curious for your opinions on what size a espresso and cappuccino cup should be. I have done my home work and see that (for instance) espresso cups are 2 to 4 oz typically, but what does the average coffee gazillionaire prefer..

Should it be thicker or thinner? and why... are saucers mandatory, take it or leave it, or useless?

pictures of your favorites would be cool to see...

As they say on Iron Chef....  "Let the BATTLE begin"   :)

Here's my take...for espresso only, although a 9oz matching set for capps would be fan-freakin-tastic

3 oz
thicker is better - more heat retention
Don't care about saucers

I'd like a dark set, with a red lava glaze from the top about 1/2 down ;)

Thicker for sure, saucers I don't care for.

2oz for shots
4oz for small milk
Big honkin' Latte bowl

are the things I'd probably buy depending on what you offered.

In that blazing cobalt blue/deep purple to match my imaginary custom pour over cone.  ;)

Espresso - 3 oz (leaves room for milk for machiatos
Cap - 6 oz for a traditional cap (2+2+2)
Latte - 12 oz.

If you have ever seen the Intelligensia espresso and cap cups, I really like those.  they are tulip shaped and very nice even for big hands.

Your pour over is happening... looking like a chemex filter in a decorative wire stand that holds the whole thing over your mug of choice, patience my fiend friend
