Dan Joliff of US Roasters was robbed last weekend.

I just saw his post here: http://www.roastersguild.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6931

I know many of you are scouring the globe for good deals on gear. If you see anything that resembles his stuff, please let him know.

Chris

Hey Chris

Could you maybe post the quote.. you need a log-in to get to the article.

That sucks about the theft.

That does suck.

Must have been some ambitious and strong thieves.

While I believe it, I don't get it.  Street value is low based on limited market in which to move.  Very, very traceable.

Bandits aren't very bright.  Hit a cell phone store and save your back.

I probably do more online searches for stuff than anyone , and I'd be happy to check for his property - if I knew what to look for. If we had a list posted somewhere that didn't require a login ID it'd help. Hopefully, the owner had serial numbers of the equipment?

I'd be willing to bet that this wasn't a theft for profit, but rather was a theft for property - someone who wanted the equipment for their own use rather than fencing it for pennies on the dollar. If so, that'll make it more difficult to trace, unless the service techies keep an eye out for it?

But I'd be happy to keep watch!

Here's a re-post for you guys that are not members:

Seems like we had a Big sale last Sunday....
Missing from our storage / rebuild shop here in OKC.

Brand New Equipment Fresh back from the SCAA Show..
USRC 35 Kilo with Profiling
Two USRC 3 kilos
USRC 1 pound Yellow sample roaster with data logging.
12 kilo destoner
Model B Plate Grinder.

Others
L-5 1930 Probat (restored old as the one stump town advertizes with)
L-12 Probat rebuilt tagged Roasters Exchange.
7.5 kilo Roaster with side Fired Burner set up,,, not common
This stuff is not that common and will turn up.

A few trailer loads (yes our trailers) of other goods like Welders, 41 Oldsmobile coupe, tools, Gump roller grinder model 777 and much other good stuff.
Did not get Tractor or Dozer (some toys left) praise God.
We are very well insured,, but I would like to be dropped a line if you good folks
Here of too good of a deal on these types of items.
They did not get in to the Manufacturing plant nor mess with rebuilds in production which was good so no orders are affected.
Thieves did seem smart enough to grab the good stuff and left a lot of metal fab machines alone so they must have an understanding about coffee and know that the roasters have a much higher cost then the 4 metal mills and 2 lathes and tons and tons of other stuff they left behind that we think most thief rings would have grabbed, they did plan on selling the stuff.

An area on our rebuild site should be up tomorrow under used roasters to post some photos of the items stolen.

Will come back and post the link to that Page here xxxx

I noticed some one reporting that they had a cooler stolen on this site also which is telling us all to watch the doors.
Used our torches to cut open gates and our lifts to load the stuff.. Sick!

Sad to hear of their loss.  Hope it all turns up for them!

On a side note.   I think I might have come up with a different name for that website! :-\

Oh man, I met Dan during the roasters maintenance class at the SCAA expo, where we worked on his equipment.  We used some of that equipment also in the roasting class.  What a bummer!  I really hate thieves!
