The new-model Sylvia's sell for ~$450 used & the Rocky for ~$250 used: killer buy!

You know me, I have searches for all sorts of stuff on eBay & Craig's List. I'm tempted to open the bidding at $400 just to remove the Buy It Now price.

I know you don't think much of the Rocky.....at least not for pairing with Gaggias.
Is the Sylvia more tolerant of a mediocre grinder/

My objection to the Rocky isn't so much it's grind quality. For what one of these costs new, one could buy a much better grinder (Cunill Tranquilo) and have a hundred or so left over.

For $500 this makes a very attractive package!

Are you prepared not to get outbid?

Hmm ... so you're saying the Tranquilo has a better grind than the Rocky?  Is the Baratza Maestro any good?

Nah, I'll lay off this one - I don't need another Silvia.

The Tranquilo is almost identical to the Mazzer Mini as far as burr size, motor power, weight & size is concerned. It's far superior to the rocky & Gaggia MDF (Rocky's competition).

I've not played with a Maestro in a few years - but haven't heard many really good things about them.

Robert ... while I was awaiting your answer I went off and starting researching myself.  They have it listed here as 60 mm for the Tranquilo.

So do these folks: http://sovranastore.com/esgrin.html - but for $100 less!

www.espressoparts.com lists the replacement burrs as 59 mm - that's where I got my info.
