www.woot.com offers to remedy my intermittent, fluctuating voltage problem. I really need to credit Peter for suggesting it.
http://www.woot.com/ on sale Saturday only. Now I can roast outside as well with steady volts. Forget about the Variac, bring on the Cummins.

Keep the Cummins in the garage with a cord to your patio, or you won't hear the cracks.

Many moons ago I went fishing up nort' Wisconsin with a couple buddies. The weather sucked, the fish were hiding, and we went home with only one fish worth keeping. On the long, sad ride home the guy in the back seat says, "You know with the gas, cabin, fishing licenses and all, that one fish cost us over $700. The moron driving replied (I think seriously), "It's a good thing we didn't catch two of 'em." ;D
