Although my life and work career are still pretty much up in the air, business is going strong and increasing. If I stay in town, eventually I am going to have to purchase a larger roaster. I know that many of you probably spend a lot of time digging around the web so if you happen across any used machines I would appreciate it if you pointed them out to me. Time has become very tight for me lately and I could use your web surfing power!
I prefer another Ambex because I know how it operates, as well as how to maintain and clean it. Also, I like working with Terry and the group in Clearwater; they are very approachable people. I would consider others, but that is my preference. I want a 15 kilo but would consider a 10 or 12.
Of course, if I end up purchasing one then you know what that means...my YM2 will be for sale! I have to say it has been rock solid. A couple weeks ago I roasted 200 lbs on it in 2 days!

Shep, I'm watching the Ambex YM series forsale - to see if I can score spare parts, so I came across this thread:
http://www.coffeeforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=33197&sid=009e945c05a7e0ceb186a004707df1da
I'll keep an eye out for others. I watch the Victor Mondry site:

And there is the Roasters Exchange (glad to see a new domain name - it was roastersexchange):

Good luck - I hope to be an expert on the YM-15 soon!

Did someone say YM-2 for sale? :P

Better not post the YM-2K here Shep, or you'll start a bidding war.

I would never knock the Diedrich and I tend to believe in the "you get what you pay for" philosophy, but one reason I went Ambex is price, $6,500 brand new.
I spent the day today roasting on location at a local craft fair. The roaster worked like a champ. We set up a booth and smoked the place up! Aside from selling coffee, I had the opportunity to discuss coffee with a lot of people. I do not think there was a single person who passed by who had ever seen coffee roasted before! Very fun...and very exhausting! We even brewed up and sampled out some Kopi Luwak for free. With the recent release of the "Bucket List," a lot of people were interested in it.
I have to admit it was a pain to move the roaster and gear, but it was a good experience none the less...and we made some money!

Thanks Woody. We have, in fact, been in discussion over this roaster. I appreciate the help and interest. I stopped by the new store yesterday that is owned by the customer that will likely push me to a larger machine. For a local grocery, it is huge. I have no idea how many coffee bins he has; well over 100. He told me, "We are going to build our businesses together, you and I!" He sort of scared me! After we got in the car, my wife Lori said, "You are in trouble. You better start roasting right now!" I have this fear that he is going to call me in about two weeks and place an order for both stores of about 450 lbs of coffee! My poor little YM2 is going to be so hot I will need welder's gloves to drop the beans!
