Cannonfodder will be making me a wood tamper to go onto a Reg Barber stainless steel base.  Suggestions?

Flat is pretty much the standard.

My favorite tamper is the black plastic one that came w/ my machine, and it's convex, so that's what I recommend.

You would do well to somehow poll the Cremina crowd.  Me and mp are worthless.   ;D

I've got flat, American & European convex, ridged, grooved, and dimpled tampers. They're 58mm, 49mm, 51mm, & 57mm. Other than having something to talk about when other nerds visit, there's no reason for anything but flat.

I also have a 57mm flat base for this. I'm trying to get these folks (http://www.coffeecomplements.com) to make me 58mm flat & convex bases.
