I just received a call from Baratza support and they agreed that the condition of the one that I received was unacceptable.  She mentioned that there will almost always be a couple of blemishes or scratches, particularly on the Barista model because of the silver paint job.  She is send out a replacement grinder for me.

Good news.  They are know for great cust svc.

RE:  Blemishes.  My daughter's was spotless and I am convinced it had never seen a brown bean before.

Ordered on recently and it was D.O.A. They send out a replacement which had the grind adjustment way too fine. Had to take it apart and rotate the adjustment coarse following the online guide. A small flat head screwdriver works the best for prying off the case. If you loose the adjustment screw one from a cd cassette tape should be close.
