That thing is crazy!

I can't decide if I love it or hate it.

I think I love it.  But then I love anything with 68mm conical burrs.

It should be like 10X faster than any other hand cranker.

It looks a bit like a fly-reel I own! Interesting description too "dead center alignment of the burrs with no wander shake or shimmy". Hope to see this on in action soon...

That's what I thought too, Woody. Except it was a spinning reel my Grandpa gave me
Awesome :-) that's cool. the first reels were made by jewelers who could manufacture intricate gears. I've often wondered about step up (or down) gears for coffee grinders. Some of the saltwater reels I have are heavy duty!

That's just lovely. Reminds me, for some reason, of a high end turntable. But as much as I want one, $245 is pretty expensive for a hand grinder.

On the pro side of it..I'm thinking it looks totally bomb proof.

I bet it would be fun taking one of those through airport security.

Even tho' you crank it by hand, based on everything else that's out there, it's almost not far to call this a hand grinder.  Here's why I say that; every other hand grinder seems to take forever and your arm gets tired pretty fast.  My Compak has similar burrs (68mm, but who knows what the cutting edges are on mine vs. the Pharos), it spins at 300rpm, and can churn out 16g in about 5 seconds.  So say you crank the Pharos at 100rpm, you'd have enough for a double in about 15 seconds.  15 seconds seems very doable compared to a Zassenhaus.

It sort of looks like the kind of thing a super villain keeps his super-distructo goop in.

Listen man. I'm really trying hard to talk myself out of even thinking about getting one of those grinders. You are not helping things.  :P

Ummm . . . it looks like the back inner portion that houses the burrs is boxed in by 3 long screws that run the length of the whole grinder. Any idea how you actually get the coffee out of the thing once it is ground?

You hold it over whatever you're dumping into, and rap it on the back with the supplied rubber mallet.

Jason will be putting up his review very soon.   ;D

They are saying mid-May for the next run of them.

I think it's a hyper-energetic quasminodium containment device sent back from the future by John Connor.
