Drip coffee - my new-to-me Technivorm
« on: February 03, 2012, 11:38:24 AM »
I received Jim's my CD-10 Moccamaster today, and couldn't wait to try it. I asked Jim how much coffee he used for a full pot and he said he used a heaping 1/4 cup. I tried that and got 26 grams by weight, which I rounded up to 30 grams.

I ended up with a very weak cup of coffee, so I'm going to up the weight to 60 grams and see what I get with the next pot? Anyone weigh their coffee for drip brewing? Suggestions?

Does anyone know where a parts diagram for the CD-10 Moccamaster can be found?

BTW: I see now why everyone said my Melitta Clarity looked like the CD-10;

I have a 2 tbsp scoop that we use to measure coffee for our T-vorm.  (we're not going to hassle with the scale in the morning) -- 6 heaping scoops for the 10 cup pot ground at a 5.5 on our KA Proline grinder.  Looks like that would be a heaping 3/4 cup or so.

It won't stand a spoon in the cup but it's not going to get confused for tea either.

I like to use almost 2g per ounce of water.  So if I'm brewing one 12oz cup via v60 I weigh out 20g.

Jim sent me a gold filter. I also have a bunch of oxygen-bleached paper cone filters that worked well in the Clarity. I'll order a standby carafe next week - Mrs T is hell on my stuff! ;D

Is this the best price for them?

60g per liter gets you in range with the ratio.

edited for accuracy:

21 36 fl oz water and 8 level tablespoons of coffee.

I have that same machine and love it.   The light on the on switch burnt out, but there is no need for me to replace.

I use 40 grams of coffee for 20 ounces of water (around what other's have said).  Most people think this is too strong.  If you cut it down to 35 grams, it it still is good.

I let the the filter res. fill about half way, stir the grinds/water, then insert the pot, allowing more brew time.

Does anyone know where a parts diagram for the CD-10 Moccamaster can be found?

What's the diff, other than the reservoir markings? And what I really need is the parts diagram, not the manual.

Hey Tex, thats the same model I have, and 60g of coffee of coffee is just about right for a full pot.
I usually spoon water over the grinds to get it started and then cover, my wife like to pull the pot out untill the grinds saturate.

Good Luck, Your Gonna Love It.

I've been told that the grounds will be properly saturated if you wait until the reservoir is reduced to 6 cups.
