Brew Express - self filling drip machine
« on: December 19, 2012, 07:55:07 AM »
I returned the TV KBT to Costco. The only time I drink drip coffee is when I have guests, so there's never a need for an insulated carafe. Thus the old TV I had is all I needed. But an acquaintance has one of these, and I really like the idea of a direct-plumbed coffee maker that can make use of the water softener setup I have for my espresso nook.

Has anyone ever used one of these SCAA approved coffee makers?

As usual, one of the strongest selling points is Costco's very generous return policy. Plus it's only $229, S&H included.

I've never heard this coffee maker even mentioned except previously by you. I wonder why it doesn't get any attention although it is approved by the SCAA. I say go for it Tex and let the rest of us know how it works out.  :)

Does it come with a plumber?
Could he plumb in my fridge while he's at it?

LOL!

You never know Susan, maybe if you order one they'll send a plumber and he can plumb your coffee and refrigerator.

Yup;  in fact, given the choice, just that would be fine.
I spend more time filling it than any of the other things.....
Ice cubes trays?  Once or twice a week.
Coffee pot?  once a day?
Water kettle?  three or four times a day....

There's also a non-programmable built in model for just $50. This is the one my friend has in his boat; no need for large capacity or programing on a pleasure boat. I just need a counter top model for home use, and the BEC-110 looks good, so I'll order it today.

One thing about this brewer; it uses a thermoblock boiler. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone that doesn't have a water softener, because it would be difficult to descale a plumbed in machine.

Knowing how much you hate thermoblock boilers you're not going to get this ... right?

Since it'll be connected it to the same water line as my espresso machine, it'll have none of the scale problems that are the ruination of T-blocks. And if I do have problems I can always return it to Costco!! 8)
