Don't know on the length of time.  He stacks them up by ordering date.  His normal price is $33-35.  The Silvia has a different arrangement with a threaded lag going all the way thru the handle.  Extra chisel and drilling time.  Here is his quote:

>>>
the Rancilio portafilters are unusual. Instead of a stud that is fixed into handle, the portafilter head has a long stud that fits through the handle and then has a bolt that goes onto the back to hold it all together. That is compounded by the fact that the shaft tapers down and there are two different sized square blocks on the stud to lock it into place so it does not rotate. I have done them but I prefer to have the portafilter so I can fit it to the handle. There is a lot of chiseling to square out the handle to fit the head. All that work also adds to the cost because it is so intensive to make. A Rancilio handle in Olive wood would be $55. I also have a catalyzed gloss finish that I have been working with. It is very tedious to use and requires some special equipment to use. I normally use Danish oil on the handles but the catalyzed finish is available for an additional $8...>>>

Hmm ... so are you going for the Danish oil finish or the catalyzed gloss finish?

That should look quite distinctive and have massive eye appeal.  Olive wood is expensive but is found in a lot of places in Italy.  It should really jazz up the appearance of your espresso machine.

Those look mighty fine indeed.  Don't let Robert see this or else you know he will get one right away.

Nah, I go for function, not form. I'm as happy as a pig in $hit to use my $18 tampers. But for those with an eye for beauty these are nice looking.

Who - ya...

Silvia's olive wood handle, with first of 8 coats.  This will go on the naked portafilter I picked up from Chris's coffee when I first bought the orphan.  Orphan no more.

Yeah ... but truthfully ... wouldn't one of B|J's olive wood portafilter handle look just splendid on your Bunn ES-1A?

Has anyone had or used or seen one of these?

http://www.barismo.com/2008/10/hario-pour-over-kettle.html

I'm thinking maybe I need one for Father's Day.
I mean, don'tcha think I need something to compensate for neither having nor being a father????

Seen 'em used in pour-over videos.  Get one, and you'll be the pour-over goddess.

I will denounce my right to a Father's Day gift, and surrender that perk to you.  Go for it!

Oops, talking to myself again, but if anyone is intrigued, this thread has a very nice suggestion for a much cheaper way of doing the same thing.....a pyrex fat separator....

very cool....
read all about it....

Waiting for me from Dave Stephens when I got home this evening.  Oh, and now it makes even better espresso.

I like this as much as my snow blower.  It is *that* nice.
