Hand Grinder
« on: October 10, 2009, 08:36:42 AM »
Anyone here tried one of these hand grinders?  Can't find anything about them on the internet.  They say they are manufactured by Lodos out of the Czech Republic which seems to have a decent reputation in the hand grinder market.  Anyone have any firsthand experience?  I'm just looking for a quality hand grinder for travelling.

I almost got one but opted for the GSI instead.

It's saved my life on the two occasions that power was out.  ;) ;)

In case you look at other options..

Hmm ... ok ... so a good basic no frills hand grinder that gives a respectable grind and is easy on the pocket book.

John,

After reading your review, the eBay grinder seems like it would be a lot easier to hold.  My only concern would be grind quality.  I might have to spring for one.

I honestly think it's going to be a toss up. It might be easier to hold but harder to crank.   :-\
All in all I think all the grinders in this category are about the same... a bit awkward to work but they will get the job done when you need it.

Yorel ... I do like the look of the one you sourced ... it looks very refined.  Ultimately you will be the judge on that.

You pay your money and take your chances.

The GSI is insanely difficult to hold. That ebay one looks like it would be for a thoroughly different reason.

What's with these crazy manufacturers? Did they flunk ergonomics 101?

Dude..... do the C hold. With that mega paw you have you oughta be able to grip it pretty solid.  ;)

But it is stupidly awkward, I can't say it isn't.

And the other one looks to me like it's going to want to "gyro" when you crank it. There is only so much a sub $20 grinder will give I guess.

John,

Your avatar looks like a stool softener. Is this a case of too much information?
