I am trying hard to avoid this thread because I have it bad for a new espresso machine. After all, how can a roaster expect to produce a good espresso blend without a good machine to try it on? Or, so I tell myself!

Shep
I'd think you can't. Reminds me of the guy who came in a couple months ago to ask if he could use my PID'd 3grp Linea to help him test his espresso blend. (Not a home roaster but a commercial roasting enterprise, his customers not happy with his blend.)  Uh hey guy, what's that USRC 3k for sitting right over there! Sure I'll spend time and money on equipment to help the local competition...

Proud to display my setup on the antique jeweler's table that I always wondered how to use it!  It is the perfect height!  The oak finish is properly protected with a sheet of tempered glass, which makes clean up so much nicer now.

Here's my setup.  I did the PID myself, it's showing low temp because I just turned it on.  Had to have the purty lights on for you folks.   :D

I miss my Rocky.  I'd pick up a doserless if I could find one cheap for drip.

Just got the Elektra T1 plumbed in.  With a VERY understanding (non-coffee drinker at that!) SO, I get a whole corner of the kitchen.

That's beautiful!  Looks like lots of yummy fun.  If some of the kooks around here got lodged into that corner, they might never come out.

We upgraded to a larger La Pavoni than we really needed, have been using it for several years now.

But my favorite is really this little Zerowatt:

Very simple - inside is a heating element and thermostat, and a piston and spring.  Unlike the La Pavoni, Elektra et al. style of domestic levers, this kind of machine does not offer any kind of steam - so the water can be heated to the right temperature for espresso.  (A La Pavoni has to make espresso with water from its steam boiler, so there are intractable temperature problems, and of course it's awkward to add more water once the machine is heated up.)  Various similar machines were made decades ago for the European market, but I guess steam capability is too important for the design to ever return.  Anyway, for me this machine makes slightly better espresso than the one above.

Grinder is a little square Nuova Simonelli.

These are all beautiful....this has officially pushed me over the edge.

I was debating a PID Silva but i saw the homebarista comparison vs. the Alexia.

I'm switching this or next year...going to pick up the PID alexia from caffetech in Canada.

I tossed in some art for good measure.

Cheers!!
