Very Nice Set Up!...So how do you like that Vario coffee bean grinder?...I've heard some good things about them

For me, it was quite the upgrade.  I...

Any heat transference to the beans, Chris?  Relatively small burrs, no?

B|Java

Are the Vario burrs solid ceramic or ceramic coated steel?

IIRC, ceramic stores less heat than steel, so there'd be less heat transferred to the beans if they're solid ceramic. In general though, the smaller the burrs the faster they have to spin to grind, and speed equals more heat generated.

Dave, I thought I read somewhere the burrs are 54 mm in diameter

@yakster- I'd love to play with a Vario on my counter for oh say, 3 weeks.  I've heard so many glowing reports.  Some users claim the Vario was such a significant upgrade concerning espresso, it made their straight shots improve, to the popint they gave up drinking milk with their espresso./  I can't say I drink milk drinks becuase my Ranchilio MD-50 coffee bean grinder doesn't perform adaquately to make a good tasting straight shot, I just don't care all that much for straight shots, but I would be interested in seeing if the Vario lives up to the hype.  Maybe next time Tex goes to Wally World he'll drive and drop one off on his way down=:-)

My K30 has a new friend with the Silvano.

The Silvano is SO shiny; put it on a platinum chain and it'd look right at home hanging from a hip-hop star's neck! ;)

I need to arrange the cords so they don't show. And according to Mrs T, I also need something decorative for the wall above the machine?

Good luck on hiding those cords.  Some sort of loom maybe?

Doesn't Mrs. T have a nifty poster to put above the bar?

I would buy another grinder and slide it in there.  Poof, cords gone.

Better do something quick before Mrs. T goes for these.

Or put your machine on the right, where it's supposed to be, so it hides the cords/outlet.   :)

Not mine, but a poster, Gor, from Home-Barista uploaded this photo of his collection.

Not completely true. He also wrote: "BTW, that photo above is not my collection! Rather, it is a photo of the levers that were damaged in floods that happened in 1966 in Venice I think?"

It gives you an idea of what is potentially available out there

I snagged this off craigslist today... I have to get a basket and a tamper...probably also get a group gasket and piston seals while I'm at it.
