What is the perfect boiler temperature?
« on: March 25, 2014, 07:15:22 AM »
I've been thinking of tweeking my CMA lever now that I've used it for a few years.  I'm currently just using a presurestat but have a PID waiting to be added.

Has anyone here tinkered with boiler temperature vs extraction.... and also noticed what it does for steaming.... I know there is a tradeoff there.

Also wondering where the best place to install the thermocouple... internal or external?

No.  I have even seen some roasters giving advice for varying temps based on which coffee you are buying.  Mercy...

Sure.  I built a thermofilter so that I could compare the temperatures registered by the TC on the brewstat location to the temperatures as the water flows through the puck.

I have also played with putting on TC at the very top of the boiler (still outside) and comparing that temp to the temp being read out by the PID.
