Title: ** Indian ROBUSTA 100 Lb 1.17.24
Post by: Ascholten on June 20, 2019, 06:00:43 AM
Hello everyone and Welcome to the Green Coffee Buying Club !
If you are reading this message thru a phone app or e-mail. PLEASE goto the webpage to actually order your coffee.  Some things have changed and this is very important:
You can access this offering at our Webpage by clicking on the following link:

-- Offering URL:
http://www.greencoffeebuyingclub.com/index.php/topic,21574.0.html (http://www.greencoffeebuyingclub.com/index.php/topic,21574.0.html)

If you are already on the website  WELCOME!
Please read and understand the following BEFORE you place your order.  If you have any questions you can always post them here in the thread or PM me and I will answer them for you.

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

Many of my coffee's sell out VERY FAST.  I have had hundreds of pounds of coffee sell in a few hours.  Because of this, and Pay Pal's new policies regarding refunds, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you check that a coffee is available BEFORE you order it.  The title of the thread will generally give you an ESTIMATE of the amount of the coffee left.  It is up to YOU to scroll through the last few posts in that offering and see if other people have ordered the cofffee and posted it, and then do the math to see if there is any left BEFORE you order it.  I will periodically update the amount left but the number on top is not a live number, it can be several hours old (and several orders behind).

If it VERY IMPORTANT that you post in the forum thread after you do order a coffee.  This is courtesy to our other members, so they can do the math as well, and not lose money on a sold out coffee.  If it comes to crunch time on a coffee that is about sold out or over ordered.  Courteous people get served first.

When a coffee does get down to the wire or gets sold out, it is always First Pay/Post  First served.  If a coffee is close to being sold or you are not sure of it's status, you can always post something along the lines of, "I would like 15 Lbs, is this still available?".
THAT is your PLACEHOLDER.  If there is some left, I will tell you Yes and you can pay and then get your coffee.  This will help prevent people paying on a coffee that is sold out.

It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you put your forum name on your payment and how much of what you are getting.  Paypal has a 'notes' or 'comments' section on the pay screen, you can put it in there.  If for some reason you can not do this, ie pay pal won't show it on your phone browder or something, you can PM me this info.  Please put in the PM, your e mail you ordered from so I can cross this info over to your order.  If there is an issue with your order, I need this info to contact you.

Make sure your address is correct in the pay pal info / shipping info you supplied pay pal with.  This is the address I use to print your shipping label.  If it is wrong, I am NOT responsible if your coffee gets lost.  It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you verify your information in pay pal.  If there ever is a problem with your order this helps greatly in getting it resolved and insurance claims filed.

Insurance:...
Unfortunately, on occasion a package will get busted up and will require an insurance claim on it.  In the event a claim does need to be filed, you will be requested to cooperate in the process of recovering compensation for the lost / damaged package.  By ordering this coffee, you acknowledge that you have READ, UNDERSTAND, and will COOPERATE in the process to be followed in the event that we do have to file a claim against the post office for a package.
This process can be seen here:
http://www.greencoffeebuyingclub.com/index.php/topic,16068.0.html (http://www.greencoffeebuyingclub.com/index.php/topic,16068.0.html)

I WILL ship coffee out of the USA, and at times may post a quick click link in the thread but you need to contact me FIRST to get an accurate price to do so.  Shipping out of the US is VERY expensive, the currency conversion cost more, the transaction cost more etc.  You may find that the shipping / processing fee is more than your coffee!  If you are interested, you can post a place holder in the thread to save your place in case a coffee is selling fast.  You can post something such as, "Inquiring about 15 Lbs to Egypt", then PM me with your info.
THAT is your PLACEHOLDER.  It will reserve the coffee until you pay for it within a reasonable amount of time.

Do know that in several countries, there is no real insurance, so if a package gets lost, that will be on you.  Also be aware that you also may need to pay customs when a package arrives or have to sign for it, get it inspected etc.  It is up to YOU to comply with your countries customs requirements.  The customs offices / post offices do not always let you know when a package is ready either.  I would highly recommend that you check daily so it does not end up getting returned back to me and you lost 75 dollars in postage.
I ONLY use PayPal to generate overseas labels for shipping.  Therefore it is VITAL that your shipping info in Paypal is correct and it MUST be verified with them, this way since they verified it, I know the formatting is correct.  I will NOT ship packages overseas to an address that is different than your Verified Pay Pal Address.  Again,  Once the package leaves my house / the country, I can not do a thing to correct any errors in shipping.  Customs would not allow this either so Please make sure it is correct.

Failure to Follow Instructions:
I hate to sound like a nit picker but pay pal is no longer refunding their fees on payments.  This is why I am going over this all once again.  I have let a lot of you slide with just doing it your way, but under their new rules, were not talking 30 cents, we are talking possibly 3 or 4 dollars you will lose on a refund.  I will not pay this when you did not care enough to post in the forum or check that a coffee is still available etc.  If there are problems I will generally try to contact you first to work through them or get further instructions but if I can't contact you, or you are not answering in a timely manner, I will issue a refund and it may be less than you sent.  This is another reason you need to post your forum name on your paypal submissions, so if we do have to start cutting people off an over sold coffee, it is clear that you followed instructions and won't be passed over.  You have been WARNED.

Now that the gobbledygook is out of the way, let's get down to business.

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

What we have:

***vv
This coffee is an Indian ROBUSTA
***^^

Quick Notes:

This is ROBUSTA, it's not a higher end quality that we normally sell here.  It has a lot more caffeine in it, which makes it appealing as a blender for Espresso's and the likes.  Although Robusta is typically the lower end of the coffee world, I picked this one specifically because it was actually a much cleaner cup than some of the others.  It was not muddy, bitter or sludgy as many R's can get.  For what it is, this one actually is not bad at all, but it IS ROBUSTA.   With that in mind, no complaints about the flavor, you know what it is, you have been warned

NOTE:  I just got a Brand NEW Bag of it, so it's nice and fresh for you now.  (as fresh as robusta goes heh)

This coffee also is a great one to experiment with, if you are cutting in a new roaster or want to try some new technique, you can do so on a 3 dollar a pound coffee and not fret over potentially ruining an 8 dollar a pound coffee.  It's also good for when you have to give coffee to people you don't like, ... relatives visiting come to mind  >:D

Full Cupping Notes are here:
There are no cupping notes.  It's Robusta, but a cleaner cup, and does not have that sludge feel or baggy flavor in the cup.

If you wish to order some  coffee   Please  FOLLOW DIRECTIONS to order

The Pay Pal e-mail to send the money to is:  aaronscholten@comcast.net if you want to do it manually.  Otherwise click the links below to be taken directly to pay pal with the numbers filled in for you.

    Prices:
    Coffee 2.52 Lb

We are going to try something different here:
As mentioned before, many people blend in a Robusta with a different coffee to give a little kick, but with the R, a little can go a long way.  I have seen blends use as little as 10 to 25 % Robusta with the other coffee.  Given that, I have had numerous folks ask, "Aaron, Can I just get only a half pound or a pound to blend with this 5 Lb order", or similar requests.

The answer to that question is now a YES,  You CAN!   I will allow you to add half a pound or a full pound to any existing order.

A half a pound will be $1.58..  simply add $1.58 to whatever your total comes to and I will throw in the half pound of Robusta to your order
A full pound of will be $2.52..  simply add $2.52 to whatever your total comes to and I will throw in the full  pound of Robusta to your order

and of course you can still buy Robusta in the traditional GCBC way, by 5 Lb bags at a time.

Click the below link for one click Paypal payments!

      5 Lb =   $22.90    I want 5 Pounds (https://www.paypal.me/AaronGCBC/22.90)

    10 Lb =   $41.00    I want 10 Pounds (https://www.paypal.me/AaronGCBC/41.00)

    15 Lb =   $57.27    I want 15 Pounds (https://www.paypal.me/AaronGCBC/57.27)

If you are interested in adding  Bags to your order, information can be found   HERE  (https://www.greencoffeebuyingclub.com/index.php?topic=21778.0)

I can send brown bags with 10 Lb orders only.  They simply won't fit in the 5 or 15 Lb packages w/o tearing stuff up.

Special Offerings:   The June Bug Special.  2 Lbs each of ANY 5 of the coffees I currently have offered for $69.00

June Bug  = $69.00  I wanna big bag of Bugs! (https://www.paypal.me/AaronGCBC/69.00)
** Note: You MUST Post or PM me which 5 coffee's you want 2 Lb each of so I can fill your order! **

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

If I have multiple coffee's for sale, you can easily mix and match to fill an order but remember 15 Lbs is the MAX I can do per box.  You are more than welcome to order more but it will be counted as a multiple order.  I need to do it this way to print out the additional shipping labels etc.

If you want to mix and match and order, Id encourage you to inquire for a final price as it may possibly save you a few dollars in the long run.

I strive to ship the coffee out within a few days or receiving the order (many times the next day) but many circumstances can prevent that.  Holidays, Work Schedule, Huge Orders, Coffee Sold out, waiting for next bag to fill your order etc.  If you are in a rush for some reason, state that BEFORE you send money, because if you pay me Wednesday and then say it HAS to be on your porch on Friday, I can't guarantee that.

Nothing much is changing from the way I have been selling coffee for years, except the fact that I am now getting stricter on the posting part.  I don't want to see people paying the banks fees and getting absolutely nothing in return because someone ordered a sold out coffee.  I hope you can understand the 'why' behind this.

As always if you have any questions comments or concerns, please feel free to Post them or send me Private Message at any time.

Thank you for your awesome support.  If it wasn't for our members, we would not be here today.

Sorry for the delay, but it's on its way now,.

Thank you and feel free to try one of our many other coffee's.  When it comes to high quality coffee, Robusta is really not what comes up front.  If you truly want to taste great coffee, please grab one that is being offered by any of the distributors here.

Thank you

I recently mixed this with the Java - Taman Dadar I have and wow, what a rocket ship that one is.  When people are warning each other to use LEVEL scoops, you know it's strong hehe.

I also use this for my mixes on many of my roasted blends too.  When this bag is gone I will be getting a new one, so don't worry it'll be gone, this is pretty much a standard here now.

Post by: Ascholten on September 13, 2020, 03:39:43 AM
Oh I absolutely believe it.  One of my blends is a 50 / 50 of Robusta and the General Utility bean I sell.  The GU gives just enough of a bit of a Chocolate flavor to take the burnt rubber out of the Robusta and it wires the shit out of you when you drink it because of all the Robusta.  Most of them LOVE it.  I try to educate people and offer them the better coffees but they grew up on Big Blue and Red and that Chickory stuff and love it.  If ... puke.... THIS is what you want,ok Ill sell it to you but this is NOT good coffee.  I even tell a group I sell to, this stuff is shit you know, oh but we love it.   Ok...

In small amounts the Robusta will impart different flavors that are not all that bad, and I can't believe I am saying this, but my Robusta is a better grade, if there is such a thing.  Looking back, it's almost embarrassing to say that,  I ordered a bag from Royal once and they switched out with some other Robusta and I got a bit upset with them, to the point that the bag went back, explaining that NO ...Robusta is NOT Robusta, my customers will TASTE this and not like it!!!  It's like trying to put a grade on sewage but well...  It does have it's uses.

I only sell HIGH GRADE  A1 garbage  >:D

Robusta is on it's way out.

As a note, a blend of this 50 / 50 with my Robusta gives a drinkable cup, better than Big Blue or Red but will wire you bigly  O0

I have roasted it each separate and I have mixed it and roasted both together with not too horrible results.  I call it my mother in laws blend.

Jeff, your order was kerfluffled a bit.
It will be going out TOMORROW.

Everyone elses is out.

Also, as general info for people.

YES, this IS Robusta,  not top shelf stuff.   BUT if you don't creamate it when roasting it, and let it rest, 2 weeks or so, it actually is not horribly bad for what it is.  It calms WAY down bitterwise at that point, and smooths out quite a bit.

For those who use this to blend,  If you use older robusta that has had a chance to mature a bit with your coffee's I think you will find that you like it a LOT better than using a rather newly roasted robusta, with your rather newly roasted... whatever.

BTW this coffee will stay decent for 2 months or more EASILY w/o tasting stale (if thats possible with robusta!!)  My point being,  roast a pound or two, don't fret over letting it rest a few weeks, THEN using it over the next month or three for your Robby blends, instead of putting 2 to 5 day old robusta in your blends.

Aaron

Edit: Let me also add, just because it's robusta, you DO NOT have to take it into second crack.  THAT is where you $$#$ things up, by doing what the other big guys do!!   It WILL probably want a bit more heat to do it's thing but stop it at the end of first crack and you'll be fine after some rest.

Hello everyone:

ALL ORDERS up to this point have been shipped, or set aside waiting further instructions / information to send them out.

As of now I have 4 packages that are stuck somewhere in the postal system, waiting for ... something to happen with them.  Hopefully they get to where they belong soon.  I am sorry for those who have to wait, however once it leaves my hands, im at their mercy like everyone else is.  The only thing I can suggest is to just keep an eye on the tracking, if it gets to be 2 to 3 weeks with no movement then we file a lost package claim and see what happens.

I want to thank everyone for their patience both while I recovered from my computer crash and had to piece this 'world' back together, and in dealing with the post office's slow and slower service as the holidays descend upon us.

If you have any other issues concerning coffee, please DM me.  I am pretty sure I got all my first put out but you just never know...

Thank you
Aaron

Thanks again, Aaron--arrived a few days back safe and sound.

Everything you said above about the robusta resonates with me. It just keeps getting better as it sits. I've been blending with my "normal" Arabicas at about 1/4 robusta. Really adds some out-front coffee flavor but still complements the other. And as you know, the amped up caffeine level is nice for those who want that. I'm really enjoying it.

Hello everyone:

ALL orders up to noon my time today have been shipped, mailman picked them up and they are on their way.

Thank you very much for your patience and unfortunately I am seeing many instances of packages being late, misdirected and/or tracking being totally wrong or just not there.
With this in mind, if your packages do not make it to you by friday of next week, please let me know and we can start seeing what we can find out about them.
Thank you

Just got a new bag in of the Robusta and it's not too bad either.  Slightly dryer profile on the bean, so takes a bit more heat to get going but after a weeks rest or so, this one really smooths out nice for being a Robusta.  STRONG too !!

Hello everyone.

If anyone is looking for some Robusta to Spike Up any coffee they are brewing, this is the one!  Will give you a nice caffeine boost and this Robusta don't taste like burnt tires either!
Go ahead and give a half a pound or a pound a shot,  It just takes a little bit, maybe 10 to 25 percent in your blend to buff it.

I have plenty of robusta for those wanting to experiment or bump up their espresso blends!  A little can go a long way, throw 10 to 20 percent in to your blend and see what it does for you.  I sell this in as little as half pound batches for you.

oh man that sounds real good.  Cold Brew since it does not extract so hard, might be very well since it may not get the bitter out, you get a stronger because this is strong, but flavorful brew!

I am getting a lot of reports of people using this coffee for cold brew and saying because of it's strength, it's turning out really good in the CB, nice and strong coffee flavor and the normal .. oof.  that is robusta is not following it thru and the cup is actually pretty decent to drink solo.

I do not cold brew myself however might give it a try here to see what's going on..

Have plenty of Robusta left for those wanting to add a bit of kick to their coffee.  (A little goes a long way  ie 10 to 25 % Blend)

Many others are using this to do a cold brew and saying it comes out nice and strong yet also SMOOTH.

I have had a few customers tell me that cold brewing this takes a lot of the ugh out of it, and leaves a nice smoother STRONG base for their cold brew drinks.

While I have not cold brewed this yet, I have added it at about 20 percent or so to other coffee's to boost them up a bit, add a kick and it does very well there.

The key to this is, let this stuff rest a few weeks, it mellows out pretty good for what it is.

Just a little bit of this added to your regular coffee goes a LONG way !!

people often ask for a bit of a 'kick' for their morning or 'on the road' coffee to get the  or keep them going.
Blending as little as 10 percent Robusta into the blend works wonders for that w/o totally killing the flavor.

With the holidays around the corner, the need for a little extra energy, and cheap gifts is here as well.,

here ya go !

Plenty of Robusta left for those who need more !

If you know how to use it, it really blends nice with a lot of coffee's to pick up the boost on them.

Many use this for a cold brew and get a really nice smooth but STRONG cold coffee !!

Alex, I will be VERY interested in seeing how this goes.

I have played with coffee before, throwing a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg or even some cajun spices in to see what it does.

What spices do you have specifically in mind or are you just playing around to see what it does?
The brazil general utility might be a bit better to drink with the spices if you get a good mix.  but spices might also make Robusta a bit more drinkable to the non Neanderthal palate :)

I also played with garlic a bit too but well.  I'll leave you to your own machinations and please keep us updated !

Thanks, Aaron. I thought it will be something fun and different to do while using some spices I have in the pantry to good use.

Im going to try infusing one spice at a time and write a profile for each spice with robusta coffee. Got some allspice, nutmeg, star anise, cardamom, black pepper, paprika, and cumin. might use some sea salt too. This is step one to building a spiced coffee blend.

Maybe ill make something delicious, maybe it will be disgusting and piss everyone off, who knows? :) I'll be sure to update as I go, happy to share the results.

Alex, one thing that seems very popular is cold brewing the Robusta.  I have several of my members who buy it, cold brew it.  They say it comes out very strong but NOT bitter, because you didn't heat it up, you leave that behind in the extract.

TBH I have not played with any myself that way, I just got way too much stuff going on to be messing with MORE coffee, man I wish I had someone working with me !! but a few have said it was pretty good !

One thing I WILL say I have done is it makes an excellent Kahlua!

Hey Aaron, thought id give you an update on the slow but fun experiments i have made.

I got some really good results of a spiced blend with star anise, cinnamon bark, nutmeg and cloves (all equal parts, ground separately from the coffee)

I made an experiment with one batch of robusta with 3 samples of each:
1st- 8 grams coffee- 150 grams hot water- 0 spice blend-
2nd- 8 grams coffee- 150 grams hot water- 0.5 grams spice blend
3rd- 8 grams coffee- 150 grams hot water- 1 gram spice blend
4th-8 grams coffee- 150 grams hot water- 1.5 grams spice blend

And the third one with 1 gram of the spice blend per 8 grams of ground coffee (mixed after they were separately ground) yields a spiced coffee almost like a chai, but with body and character. It is drinkable black, because of the spices it is not bad at all.

Id say the spice blend with natural coffees from Brazil or Ethiopia (specially lower altitude coffees) is a really great combo.

thank you for the reply alex.  Yes that does sound really good!

Adding flavors to coffee, while some will see that as blasphemy, my opinion is, well, if it's natural stuff and not artificial garbage drowned in corn syrup, then it can't be that bad.  I mean if you want to be a total purist, your cream and sugar are adding flavors right?  Drink it BLACK !!!

But on that I have played with some chocolate before, really good, vanilla pod before, really good, expensive but I have a vanilla plant I have been growing for the better part of 2 decades so I get plenty of pods each year about this time.  I got 17 of them it looks like my yield will be this year, Ill expect about 14 give or take a few to actually make it to the end in super condition.  Vanilla is a PITA but it's well worth it.

Another thing you may try is sassafras, which is used for root beer, there is a root beer plant, which is a herbaceous broad leaf, pulpy kind of plant .. make a tea out of those to get the 'flavored water' and then use that water to brew your coffee with... just another idea for you to play with.

THanks for the follow up, please feel free to keep at it and if you want, start a whole new topic so we can keep that specific thread going and others who may want to try, have a place to share their results, recipes's etc etc.
