Good point on the Macap handle.  I had different sized bases machined for the Macap but use it exclusively with the Cremina. I will ask Rarebear to make this as well.

I bought a 3 3/8" x 12" long piece of 304 Stainless Steel (enough for 12-14) so I will be also make a few tamper bases to go with the handles..

This will be a limited run as I don't see my self making these very long..
Its pretty much to defray my cost for making a few for myself..

Can anyone help Cammie and I ?
I need the thread sizes for Cammie's Cremini..
I need the diameter of the the threads (not nuts they are the what is called the Tap Drill Size)
Also the distance between each thread like 1mm, 1.5mm or 1.75
US Standard threads measure how many per each metric is distance between peaks..

Thanks

rarebear,

Do you have any wood in stock that is especially resistant to heat? The handle on my RK drum has cracked and I might see if you could make me a replacement.

Also, when you talk about more heat resistent wood... How about screw above glass on Hottop?  I did burn myself numerous times with it.

rarebear,

I maybe able to add some aluminum bushing so the wood is not in direct contact with steel..
Like a short bushing at front and back of handle hole so heat doesn't transfer well.

I won a huge piece of desert ironwood burl or the ebony has a super tight grain but I not to sure which wood hold up to heat.. Like me google it :)

For the price of two RB Bases I was able to buy the steel..

SYP,
Your more than welcome..

Do I detect a gab between the wood and the base, or is that just the lighting?

The handle is a tad smaller than the base in diameter and is a optical illusion due to a shadow I guess..
There is a counter bore on the bottom so it fits flat even if it warps over time..

Will there be an option for brass collar?  It looks so wonderful even unpolished.

Smico, Brass will be an option..
I have the brass stock on hand..

First I have an order from Cammie to make a Pink Ivory Set..

I also what to refine the template I used for this test piece, I want the top a little more round looking..
I stretched the image in photoshop then cut out a template to get a 3" tall handle and the top is not as round looking as image I used as a model..
