Title: Closed: Kalita Pelican Kettle, 1.0L - Traveling Road Show
Post by: BoldJava on August 10, 2013, 06:30:55 AM
About time for a road-show, no?  Newest kettle on the block is the 1-liter Pelican from Kalita, via Nick Cho's WreckingBall Coffee.

Features:
1)  Great tip, see photo
2)  Screaming red
3)  Stovetop compatible with gas or electic
4)  Enamel over stainless steel
5)  Rounded handle easier on hand than flat surface

Who be in?  No money now; cost will be about $9.25 with PayPal.  If we get 9 others, we fly with it.  Post interest.

How will it work?  When I get enough interest, I will let posters know exact cost.  Once all are paid, I will order and ask member JSpain to have his wife pick a random number.  That lucky winner gets put last on the list but gets to keep the kettle.  Others will get to use the kettle for a week and then ship it on to the next member.

How is your karma?  You going to win this?

It looks like this kettle might not make a traveling road show.  Every kettle was not borne to fly.

Kettles are so yesterday -- this offering couldn't get traction. <grins>.

Our new kitchen has red accents.  Ordered.  This kettle will get license to remain on the stove when not in use.  Review pending once it hits the porch and gets a few pours under its belt.

Red reigns (decal comes off).

Red reigns (decal comes off).

What, you don't like the Sanrio/Hello Kitty [Pelican] vibe? ;)

How good is this kettle and its control?

Well, I can suspend a drop in mid-air and have it come back to the spout.  Love it.

I'm pretty much baffled that kettles are not getting the attention they should.

I was just fooling around with alternate speed pourover today and control of your pour is so important regardless of your chosen pouring style.

It's a real head scratcher for me as to why otherwise quality conscious obsessive  people don't take this section more seriously because they should.  :-\  And I think I'll add that they will sometime down the line.

It must be that nobody ever demonstrated the improvements in the cup with a more controlled pour.  Or they're using a filter holder that lets them pour fast and sloppy and controls the flow for them.

The kettle passed the "cute" factor.  The red blends with the red accent theme going on in the kitchen.

"Why that kettle is so cute, we can just leave it on top of the stove," as she picked it up and admired it.  Score one for thinking ahead.

I will use it for a couple of weeks and then provide some feedback.
