Anyone here have any exposure to the new line of "Victory" roasters that Don from Ambex is carrying? Just curious. ;D

That is a very long cover over the area the drum normally is!

Yeah, it looks like an updated Ambex to me. Don told me last year that he was updating the machine to resolve some of the issues I had in the past. The pricing for the introductory models was very appealing. I'm just not settled into a time/place to launch another business yet...but I think the time will come.

It certainly is a good looking roaster.

If it roasts as well as it looks ... it should be a great roaster.

He said in the redesign he was able to not only address the complaints he had heard about the Ambex machines over the past 10 or so years he worked for them (things like trapped green beans and chaff fires), but also to incorporate some of the better features of other roasters he has had the chance to work with. Next time I head to Naples I think I will run up and take a look. For the record, I never had a minute's trouble with either of my two Ambex machines...just a few things I didn't like so well.

Looks like the motor and gearbox is inside.  That could be a long term problem with too much heat on the motor and gearbox.... but maybe he has that figured out.

Ray,

Thanks for the info! Sounds close to Ambex pricing too. The whistles and horns seem just right. Are you thinking about buying one? Inquisitive minds just need to know.  ;) I'm just a dreamer.......

I am going to buy a roaster but I really want a 1 kilo vs 2 kilo, getting closer to pulling the trigger. Unless something comes up I should be ready in about 2 months I hope

I got that price list today as well. A couple things Don mentioned that do make this machine different than previous Ambex roasters are that these machines are supposed to be able to roast the capacity listed and the chaff collector is outside the machine, helping eliminate smoldering chaff. I could never roast more than 15 pounds successfully in my YM10. This one should be able to run the full 22 pounds, which is a good thing in my book. I am hoping he has one running in the warehouse next time I run to Florida...I'd like to see one in action.
