...and have more money than brains (or can afford to satisfy your every whim) here's a great machine for the home: http://www.coffeegeek.com/forums/members/buysell/429600

That would certainly make a nice addition to your collection Robert.
:)

See, that is what confuses me.... how is it that I don't know whoever that is?
Another way... how is it that somebody has that machine and doesn't home roast?
Assuming again that if you home roast you would necessarily be a member here, but it's just not a humongous demographic of people that would even have that machine and the way the circles go round and round.....it just seems like I'd know that person.
But anyway that machine is not in my price range. :(

Yeah ... or mine.

There have been several of these on CG within the last year or so go for around $5k.
One with a Mazzer grinder if I recall.

Yeah, with the bad economy I suppose a lot of folks are getting rid of their toys.

His current asking price is $7000.00 but I think it will eventually go for less than half of that.

Word on the street is that the guy bought a Bunn ES-1A for $500 and it makes better espresso, so he's recouping his money on the other one. Right Robert?

You know, John
You could always buy a PID'd Gaggia from Tex and give it to the guy for his apartment and then just stay you'll keep the machine at your house and he can visit it once in a while.....
a win - win - win

Better yet; charge him a nominal fee for storage until he gets another house!

I must say Robert I am really surprised you are not lusting after this machine.

Nah, any well-tuned machine can make fine espresso. It's the deal that whets my interest (Guess that's the Texan in me?). :)
This one would be the one I'd lust after if it goes for less that $750: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250449940450#top

Wow ... around 30 minutes left ... it may well go for under $750 ... are you in?

Mightily tempted, but I promised someone that I wouldn't compete for this one. :-X

Mrs. Tex ... right ... go on ... with you having mastered the art of "smooth talk" it should be a piece of cake.

Hmm ... so in summary ... although you're lusting ... it does not qualify for a fight.

Damn right! Mrs T's idea of getting even usually entails a visit to the auction houses in Houston or Dallas. Ever seen what a Gustav Stickley dining room suite goes for these days? :o

Ha ha ... oh come on Robert ... you know you want to give her a Gustav Stickley.
;)

For 7 grand, I think I'd rather have one of these (http://www.keesvanderwesten.com/speedster_purchase.html)
I don't know enough about either one of these machines to know which will pull the better shot; I only know that they both are capable of producing much better shots than me.
I also know that the chances of me dropping 7 grand on an espresso machine are slim to none :)

The first three times, yeah I did! ::)

Me too - not for financial reasons; it just grates on my nerves to spend that kind of money! Especially when my $400 Bunn ES-1A makes perfectly good espresso. :)

Although...every one needs art in their house, yes? 7 grand seems pretty cheap by art standards ;D Maybe if I had a bigger nook...
