OK, so my fabricator friend has a project that requires some command and control. Years back I'd become aware of the Basic Stamp when I was teaching robotics, but my focus was elsewhere and I never tinkered with one. The device and its brethren don't major in analog inputs anyway, so I wasn't entirely impressed.
Enter the Arduino.
Geez this sucker's sweet. I just did my first "Hello World." Well, the Arduino blinkin' LED equivalent, but darnitall -- my breadboard and collection of discrete ICs and devices is at the shop an hour away. Monday evening will be my first chance to real-world the darned thing.
I see that some folks here are "Arduino aware." Tres Cool. I join you as a noob.
I also note this (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&rlz=1C1GPCK_enUS369US369&esrch=FT1&q=arduino+pid+coffee+roast&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=).
I note an instructables project (http://www.instructables.com/id/A-fully-automatic-coffee-bean-roaster-Arduino/), which I'll be looking at more closely.
Anyone actually taken one through to a PID algorithm roast controller?
After I get done with the outboard chip design for Erik's project, I might turn my attention to a roastworthy implementation of something fun. But I'd like to plagiarize from anyone with useful code!

Rasqual,
You are aware that the MiloWidget is based on the Arduino ... right?
:)

I am not sure when the last bits went up but here is the sourceforge project for it:

You think the Arduino is sweet? it is and simple/open source all that.
But, Look at this one! (http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/seeeduino-mega-fully-assembled-p-438.html). Careful this rabbit hole is very, very deep ;D
The Milowidget (http://www.greencoffeebuyingclub.com/index.php?topic=5382.0) may move from the Arduino to Seeduino for the advanced version because of the additional memory, and I/O.

A rabbit hole indeed!
