While I generally stay away from alcohol, I have been interested in the Green Fairie and did quite a bit of reading about Absinthe awhile back.  I'll be curious to your 'trip report'

Did the US legalize it completely, or are they working within a grey area?

Absinthe was legalized in 2007. There are limits on the amount of Thujone allowed in the US. Grande Wormwood is the ingredient credited with the purported effects of absinthe. Pre-ban absinthes have been analyzed and found to contain levels of thujone that would have been legal under current limits. I have read that sage contains more thujone than absinthe.

In the US, absinthes must have less than 10ppm (equal to 10 mg/kg).

Back on topic - the coffee house I visited today had the smaller Yama cold brewer for sale. The owner almost crapped when I told him what yours went for on CL. ;D

I know I've tasted it in coffee before some Yemen, Sumatra and Java - I think.

They make some near you. Woodinville?

Kind of informative

It sure seems the babe doesn't do much. Her purpose seems to be revealed at the end.

I think you could do a better job with the Hario Buono.

I've had a few cold drinks made with the Yama.  It's very convenient to have some in the refrigerator pull it out, toss in some milk and cold latte.  So far I'm liking it. I need to find a really fruity coffee to try with it.  I made the first batch with a Bolivian I had roasted up.

Great summer after work drink.

I just finished the second brew on this Yama yesterday.  El Salvador COE (2009) one Chad distributed.

I'll be cupping the cool brew this afternoon, but I've decided that I don't think the cold brewer is for me.  It's like watching a chemistry lab on TV and I don't drink much cold coffee.

So watch for this coming up for sale very soon.

Hold the presses..... damn that COE is killer in the Yama cold brew.    The fruit is so intense.

almost no acidity, in a good way.  Reminds me of as a kid breaking into about 6 sticks of fruit stripe gum

hmmmm should I keep it.....?
