Tiamo Kettle
« on: July 13, 2012, 01:44:12 PM »
I saw this kettle in a pour over video and decided I had to have it. I like the open top design and the smaller size it will be perfect for my one cup needs. I expect it to take a week or so to get here once it arrives I will post a few pictures and my first impressions.

Yes sir I have ordered from them before I think we are using the same kettle the Paico. A great kettle I would put it against a Hario or Bonavita any day.

You may wanna shoot them an email and ask if it comes with a top...the picture shows the kettle is topless.

That looks like it will do a good job for a pour over type coffee extraction.

I wonder if you could foam milk and do latte art with that kettle? I really like the open design.

I've been using this kettle for a while now so I thought I would update this thread. I have to say this kettle has made my pour over routine so much easier. I use my Pino kettle heat the water then transfer to the Tiamo for pouring and it works out great. The precision of the pour with this kettle is awesome! I think it is so easier because you are working with less water and weight. Clean up is a breeze, no more trying to wedge your hand into a small opening to clean/dry the kettle. The small foot print is a plus too. The bottom of the kettle of is 3.5 inches wide and its just over 4 inches tall. The picture below is next to a #2 size Bonmac for reference.

I have Bonavita so you can try it next time when you pass by.
I like Bonavita because when you slow down to stop the pour, water doesn't drip back under the goosneck at all.

Dave, is this the same one that I learned to make pourover with?

No, this is the one you were using ($23):

Ships in about 12 days from Hong Kong.  I liked it so much, I peddled my Hario to a friend at work.

The only Bonavita I've used is the electric model that was passed around via our roadshow. I like this kettle and the Paico more that the Bonavita. I didn't like the angle of the pouring spot on the Bonavita. See the link below for a picture I posted of the Bonavita and Paico pouring spouts.

Awesome pouring device. I even use mine to fill my Cremina (hole in one every time).   :)
