So how do I get this off? It is under the shower screen, held in place by two bolts. Took those out, and can't remove this metal plate.

Never mind. Archimedes was right--just used a longer flat head screwdriver and bigger hammer.

Sorry I didn't jump in earlier with a suggestion.... but I was on an airplane to kiwi-land.
I'm sure you know to be careful with the valve. I've broken one trying to unscrew it.
