Today is my first day as a member and I maybe asking a question that may have already been answered, but a newbie is a always a newbie. I just started roasting 3-4 weeks ago...5 punds roasted, about 5 pounds in the garbage.
I purchased a HotTop to start with. When I run a profile each segment fails to reach target temp until segments 7/8. I roast indoors on my stove, my outlet voltage is 121vac, and I let my first segment reach ~220 degF prior to dumping my beans in. Is this normal for a HotTop? My roasts come out MUCH better than store bought beans, but is the roaster functioning correctly? I sent an email to HotTop and the reply was the machine was operating correctly. Any advice / tips?
