Look forward to the B|Evaluation.
Fuji'ed PID by Milo. Nice job, budd.
All week, I have just been fooling with temp measurements and learning how to set the PID. Quite easy once you catch the knack of it.
I have settled with 112.5C. Most Fuji'ed posters suggest that they end up at 108C. The PID thermocouple <?> gets mounted on the external base of the boiler on the Silvia. It is fascinating to watch the chip 'search' and find the setting you have established as it goes beyond the set temp and then comes back at it. Then, it will hold your boiler within .1C degree. Boiler light flashes and instanteously (milli-second heat surge) you are back at 112.5 from 112.4.
Milo, always a gent, even sent along a pound of Tsunami Espresso Blend. Great blend. Nice chocolates, with an edge. Did he slip in an EAfrican on this one? What I like about it as a capp drinker (no shots here) is that it stands abreast of the milk; not above it, nor below it. I don't like overly 'punchy' capps nor do I like it when the coffee drifts to the background. This blend is just right.
I don't have the equipment to measure the temps at the head as precisely as some folks do. I will work the machine over, going up a degree; down a degree. We will get it dialed in. Been practicing my 30-lb tamp using the shipping scale. Duh. Never had thought of that before. Estimate that my earlier tamps were 22-25 lbs.
Thanks again, Larry. I no longer need to just
hope. We are once again weekend latte/capp drinkers.
