The supplier sent me this quote. For a knock off, this is too pricey for my taste.

1   CR 8828   Automatic Coffee beans roaster.                   $3,900     $3,900

10   CR 8828   Automatic Coffee beans roaster.                   $2,500     $25,000

50   CR 8828   Automatic Coffee beans roaster.                   $1,050     $52,500

250   CR 8828   Automatic Coffee beans roaster.                   $910     $227,500

500   CR 8828   Automatic Coffee beans roaster.                   $840     $420,000

1000   CR 8828   Automatic Coffee beans roaster.                   $770     $770,000

Hi Dante,

This may seem like a question that does not need to be asked but something tells me it may need to be ... what currency are these prices quoted in?

Thanks

Hi MP! I wish those were Thai bahts being quoted, but I believe that the seller was quoting in US dollars.

Only two things are different with a 220 volt unit.

1) the heating element
2) the transformer to convert the 220 down to low voltage.... or from 110 volts in the USA version.

the low voltage... and logic circuits should be the same.

I just read this post Larry. I have the 220v unit from the Taiwanese manufacturer. Before you order the replacement part for me, could you please ask Hottop USA if the heating element that they are selling will work with the 220v?

Thanks!

Dante

Yeah ... or Hong Kong dollars ... that would put his pricing way over the top.  Do they realize a Hot Top is much more reasonable than their product?  That is why I find it very hard to believe that they would be asking anywhere near what they are.

The very first thought I had as well was if those price quotes are in US Dollars.  This must be some sort of error, since those prices are no where in the ball park, even given current exchange rates.

Don't Panic!

$3900 HK = ~$500 US

I wonder what S&H plus duties would be?

No, but it's an educated guess based on doing business in that part of the world for a half-dozen decades or so. HK$'s used to be the preferred medium of exchange when doing business with the Asian Tigers.

I've got a feeling the quote is US$, but they are not aware that we know that these are just HotTops, which can be purchased directly from HotTop U.S.A.  If you live in Thailand, you may not have the great company presence that we have in the US and Europe.  In Taiwan, home of the HotTop, you cannot find the roasters easily in coffee roasting shops.  If you look at the price for 1,000 units, though, it is starting to look like the HotTop price we are familiar with.

Yeah ... that would make sense.
