Title: Suggestion: Use anti-seize compound
Post by: Tex on October 21, 2010, 08:42:17 PM
I used anti-seize compound back in my drag racing days on spark plugs, cylinder head studs/bolts, exhaust manifold bolts, etc. Now I use it when tightening down the compression fittings and boiler bolts.

Take my word for it, a few bucks now will save you a lot of heart ache later.

You read my mind Robert.  I think I may have some in the garage that I used on my spark plugs, but I'm starting a collection of stuff and goops for when I open my steam boiler in a few months.

I'm also thinking of insulating the steam boiler afterward.

It's especially important to use it on the connections to the group. Galling is a MAJOR problems there.
