Title: Grinder shaft movement
Post by: ph33nyx on April 23, 2011, 07:22:30 PM
I love using my manual coffee grinder, although lately I've notice that the shaft is moving from side to side while grinding making the grind not as consistent. Is there any way I can fix this, or should I invest in a higher quality manual such as a Hario or Kyocera?

Is there a way to use washers as a shim on the shaft that eliminates the wobble for you?  Nothing to lose but $.30.  If you are going to stay with a hand grinder, look at the Orphan Espresso mod'ed hand grinder.  Eliminates all the wobble and gives superior grind (YouTube clip at base of listing):  http://www.orphanespresso.com/OE-PFP-Hand-Coffee-Grinder--KYOCERA-CM-50-UPGRADED_p_3325.html (http://www.orphanespresso.com/OE-PFP-Hand-Coffee-Grinder--KYOCERA-CM-50-UPGRADED_p_3325.html)
