Replacing Burrs - Expected Life
« on: January 05, 2011, 06:31:44 PM »
How long do burrs last?  Always a varying opinion is offered.  I was reading through the Mazzer manual this evening and saw these numbers so I thought I would share them:

"When using coffee blends of average hardness, it is advisable to replace the grinding blades approximately every:
600 kg (1325) for the Major model
400 kg (880 lbs) for the Super Jolly model
300 kg (660 lbs) for the Mini model."  http://coffeegeek.com/files/37/usamazzergrinder.pdf

Let's see. I grind a pound a week in the Macap so I need to change mine out ~ 2019.

The manual is a pretty good guide.  I would say it would not steer you too far wrong.
