Nuova Simonelli Grinta grinder - mucho sucko
« on: August 09, 2011, 07:56:59 PM »
Just a mini review of the doserless Nuova Simonelli Grinta as we recently got a new one at work (along with a new Oscar).

Bottom line: two thumbs down. The FC+ beans our company buys comes out of it in mostly pea to acorn sized clumps. It's bad enough that 10 seconds of stirring with a paperclip only partially breaks them up. The other day the hopper went empty so I carried the grinder over to the garbage can and turned it upside down. The amount of grounds which came out after a few raps on the side was pretty impressive.

The only plus side that it has enough steps to be able to dial in a reasonable grind level.

This might be the first product review that made me laugh like that.

I take it you weren't on the procurement committee.

The good part is you work in a place where you can pull shots of halfway decent equipment, and still only have to shave once during the work week.

The Grinta is on par with Rocky & MDF grinders, not really intended for serious use. It's too bad whoever bought it didn't check its specs or read the right reviews.

I was hoping that your trip to the garbage can would involve a slip and the Grinta would be history. Suggest to your employers that they can sell the Grinta on CL and make enough to buy a much better grinder - Cunnil Tranquilo at $238.
