My new (old) Bunn ES-1A: 100% done, almost.
« on: August 20, 2011, 12:32:46 PM »
I thought I was done with the rebuild, but the pictures tell another story. What I thought were insignificant scratches on the drip tray cover look like the Grand Canyon (you can't hide anything from the camera).

I'll take the thing over to my polishers, rather than kill myself working in a too hot garage. Other than that detail, I'm calling the rebuild done. I'll hook it up tomorrow and pull some shots, and call it a job well done.

If it wasn't for the stodgy side panels, it'd be easy to mistake it for a machine made today - especially the internals. The thing is made from parts that are available off any parts suppliers shelves, and the E61-type group is heavy and very temp stable. A similar new HX machine bought today would cost ~$3000.

Robert ... the way you talk about your espresso machine is like the teenage boys talk about their newly painted hot rodded Honda Civic.

Although that is a nice retro paint job on it.

You noticed? Although I'd equate it more with a '57 327 CI Chevy Nomad.

That Chevy's luster is nothing without that heavy E61 group.
