Tell me about replacement burrs.
« on: December 20, 2009, 03:56:37 PM »
I just got some new burrs for my Rossi RR45 from an online vendor. I didn't ask about their "heritage" when I ordered them and now that I've got them, I don't see any markings on them at all. Is there anyway to tell what kind of quality they are? I can file on the edge of one of them to see how hard it is, I guess, but I don't even know what that would tell me.

Let he who knoweth spilleth the beans, please.  :)

If you ordered them from a normal Espresso parts supply place you probably have decent burrs... if you ordered them from ebay... who knows.  Did you buy that Rossi in West Seattle?

Nah, I got the grinder off ebay several years ago. The seller of was a restaurant supply place out of New York. I got the burrs on eBay, too. This seller has an espresso parts store on there, but I can't remember his handle off the top of my head.

Anyway, I swapped the burrs tonight... the original ones seem identical to the replacement ones. Even the machine marks look the same. I guess they'll be fine.
