My new set up and my first grinder really capable of grinding for espresso. I pulled a few shots of the Redbird today to break the machine in. None were worth drinking straight but the last one went well in a latte.

How is the Salvatore E61 ?

I remember looking at them I think..
They are made in the USA right?
I was considering them but thought it was still kind of a new company..

~~~Salvatore builds his machines in California...Solvang IIRC.  I bought one of his entry level machines a few years ago and loved it...an HX he hand made...58mm commercial thermo siphon group, vibe pump.  the build quality was outstanding.  hard times forced a sale and when I became flush I bought another HX from a different manufacturer (very happy w/my Quick Mill Vetrano) yet if anyone asks for opinions on Salvatore espresso machines, I will give the one I used two very enthusiastic thumbs up
In regards to Salvatore being a new company...that he is not.  I think he is in his 70's and has worked with espresso machines most of his life.  He is an accomplished machinist making many of the parts for his machines himself, then assembling them entirely by hand himself.  If you do a search for his company you can read a bio on Salvatore at his website
Just picked up another La Pavoni.  A Europpicola in Brass/Copper that is in almost perfect condition.  I'm naming her Goldie Hawn.
The Chrome Pro is still my preferred machine though. Her name-Silver Sarandon.
makes perfect sense, Hawn is the one w/ the smaller boiler and Saradon with the larger boiler,
would be inconceivable to get them confused...
I don't yet own an LP but if I did, it'd have to be the Saradon model.  Extra steam...
Sarandon is able to regulate herself better too.  Goldie can be a little firecracker
I would be interested but even so I already have three (lent one to a friend) I will most likely just sell and/or gift the two brass europiccolas.
I do like those gold one's.
Digging up this old thread to show off my new espresso gear.  :)
I've been working like crazy lately so I decided to reward myself with an upgrade to my espresso gear. I bought a Profitec 300 dual boiler machine with a PID with a Baratza Sette 270 to go with it. Despite some negative reviews on the Sette I've had zero problems with mine and it's not as loud as I expected based off reviews. I'm only using the Sette for espresso so I'm not sure how it would work for drip or pourover. The Profitec 300 has a group that is similar to my Gaggia, the boiler sits on top of the group. It's nice to be able to switch between pulling a shot and steaming without waiting. The shot quality and temperature stability is better than my Gaggia due to the much larger brew boiler, 11oz on the Profitec. So far I'm loving this set up!
