How are tamper engraved?

Wouldn't it be nice if we had the GCBC engraved on a Tamper?

Yes, that would be cool:p
We could contact Paul Pratt. he lives in HK and is the guy that has the "Bumper" brand made. Since he is a pretty low volume maker I am guessing he might be up for giving us a good deal with a factory fabricated engraving on his?

PS: I have a bumper tamp. They are pretty good. if we do this with a Reg Barber like Hb did we would end up with over $80 a piece im guessing.

I have a good friend who owns a laser engraving company.  They can engrave onto pretty much anything.... wood, metal, plastic, flat or curved surfaces.

I could ask him what he would charge for it..... I know he's a coffee fan, so maybe offering him something out of my stash he'd do the setup for free....

I don't get it.  Why would something so simple be so expensive?  I would go in for a nice tamper, but not for that much!

Heeh, because Reg wants around $70 before shipping for his tamps to start with (and that is unengraved). I agree, it can be done a lot cheaper :p

hence me suggesting a different maker such as Paul Pratt with his bumper.

I've used my first Reg (American Convex) for over 6 years. Worth every penny. Quality tools make a difference. Few months ago got an engraved one same style to use at my Kafe.
