Very nice!  I may need one of these for my arsenal, should they become available.  50 Caliber pourover is my favorite size! ;)

Yes its a big hole but seems to work fine with the chemex filters.... still working out a few details on the bottom and how it sits over a cup or carafe.

Some vertical fluting would just make this perfect.

You wouldn't need as many flutes, though. Half the number, and each one somewhat grosser, might do the trick.

Two cents.

I saw that on your site and I looked on Ebay to see what they had to offer. I saw several of the Melitta 102 and they looked very similar to the 103 on your site, with the fluting and 3 holes. What are the difference(s) between the 102 and the 103?

I did some fluting but the grooves were to shallow and got lost in the glaze  :-\

I have read the debates and theory's and I am not sure if grooves are REALLY better than not grooves  Mellitta 103 vs Chemex

If you have any links to the non-flute side of the debate, let me know. I will proceed to devastate their lamer cause, and leave them mewling in the dust.

When it comes to filter cones, flutes are for fairies.

After watching the pour over vid where the guy uses a homemade spiral of wire I started thinking of the cone as nothing but a filter holder. That spiral is literally doing nothing other than holding the paper filter up in the air.

You can adjust everything with grind and pour over (flow control) so I'd sure take one of these custom brewers with flutes, ridges, groves, smooth, rough.....whatever and manipulate the brewing accordingly with whatever configuration it's in.  ;)

Purrdy. Do you need to preheat it? My guess is that it would pull a lot heat out of the water.
