Got it! Don't worry, it will get strapped down better before we go home. I am going to have Don at Ambex perform some upgrade work on it tomorrow morning so that the controls will be identical to my, one year newer, YM2. This will give me more control in roasting small batches. Looks like it will be Friday or the weekend before I get it unloaded at home. No hurry; they are talking snow!

No, no no! Sorry for the confusion. And me an English major. It is sunny, near 80 and absolutely gorgeous here. Back home in Indiana (sounds like a song!) they are threatening flurries for later in the week.

I love it!

I noticed on the Ambex message board that Don is doing custom work (check out those stirring vanes on http://billgiffen.com/ambex/index.php).

If you ever need anything from Don, call me. I know his "secret" weakness!

Got home last night with the roaster. Zero problems. I went ahead and took the drum off of the top to make it easier to get it down into the shop. We were going to drop it in with heavy equipment but it has been raining a lot here so I have invited my friend Brutus and his son Hercules over to help! Photos to come.

Glad you made it home safe Shep! Be careful unloading. Haste makes waste. I'll be looking for the photos. I've been following your adventure. Once you get her up and running I may need to make a visit and watch a roast......

Good luck unloading and getting her running. Jim ;D

My friends, who have more ego and muscle than brains, carried the roaster down no problem! I broke it down into two parts, the top probably weighed near 200 pounds by itself and the base was in the 400 pound mark. After I got it apart I just got out of the way! I hooked up the few pieces of Nordfab that the other roaster gave me. I will have to get the rest ordered on Monday. The dealer is just 40 miles away so I can pick it up in person.

I had a few orders waiting on me so my options were either travel 2 hours to another roaster I know who said I could borrow their machine or create some "makeshift" ducting to get my by for a couple days.  Being a safety conscious person I chose to...vent that sucker and cross my fingers! I will not post a picture (for liability reasons!) but it worked. I have put 3 roasts through it and will do two more tonight. There is most certainly going to be a new learning curve here! While it is a 22 pound machine, 80% of capacity is ususally the rule of thumb, meaning I could do about 17.5 pounds. For the sake of experiementation, I chose 10 and 8 pounds. I think I have a handle on the 8 pounds now. Photos to come when it is all installed "properly!"
