That price seems a bit high.  My brother's in-laws have a flea market, and had one of these.  It was older that the one pictured on CL, it was a cool two-tone brown color with great graphics and text.  It was a grocery store model that had the switch so when you placed the base of the bag on it, it'd grind.  It would power up but the switch wasn't functioning, and they were asking $75.  He also had an even older Hobart model that had the tin hopper - that model you could do coffee, wheat, and corn.

If I brought home either beast I'd be sleeping with the chickens (again ;-).  This is one reason why, I need a coffee shop...

What material is the roasting drum made of??
What is the heat source for the roast chamber, gas or electric?
could you provide a picture of the bean temperature gauge?

Thank you

Hi, Larry.

Yes, this is an actual coffee grinder made by Hobart. Heavy duty like their other equipment.

This is a collector's item, but also functional (these things were built to last.)

I bought it at auction here in Seattle. I've seen them sell online anywhere from $1,000 to $1,700. So this one is really priced to sell at $750.

The stats:

Hobart Manufacturing Company
Coffee Roaster
Model 3240
Serial Number 469740

I don't know the exact year, though.

What were you planning on using it for?

And let me know if you're interested, because I'm marketing it elsewhere.

Thanks.

I could ask around and see if it is worth it.

I just sold mine in my garage sale for $50.  That is a stupid price.

You can find them on epay all the time for $100-200.
